Caring for Whisper Weft Hair Extensions

Caring for Whisper Weft Hair Extensions

Caring for Whisper Weft Hair Extensions is essential to maintain their longevity, appearance, and quality. Since they are designed to be lightweight, natural-looking, and durable, proper care will help ensure they stay in great condition for an extended period. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you take care of your Whisper Weft extensions:

1. Washing Your Genius Weft Extensions

  • Frequency: Wash your extensions every 10-15 wears, or as needed, depending on how much product you use or how oily your scalp gets.
  • Shampoo: Use a sulfate-free, extension-safe shampoo to avoid drying out the hair and to protect the integrity of the weft. Sulfate-free products are gentler and will help preserve the softness of the hair.
  • Conditioning: Apply a nourishing conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends of the extensions. Avoid applying conditioner to the weft (where the hair is sewn in), as this can loosen the weft over time. Opt for a leave-in conditioner or a detangling spray for extra moisture if necessary.

2. Drying and Detangling

  • Towel Drying: After washing, gently blot the hair with a towel to remove excess water. Avoid rubbing the extensions, as this can cause tangling or fraying.
  • Air Dry: The best way to dry Whisper Weft extensions is to let them air dry. Lay the hair flat on a towel or use a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle and arrange the hair in its natural shape. Avoid direct heat when air drying.
  • Blow Drying: If you must use a blow dryer, use a low heat setting. Attach a diffuser and dry the extensions in sections, keeping the dryer at least 6 inches away from the hair to prevent heat damage.

3. Brushing and Detangling

  • Brushing: Always use a loop or soft-bristle brush to detangle your Whisper Wefts, starting at the ends and working upwards toward the roots. Be gentle to avoid pulling or tugging at the hair.
  • Preventing Tangling: To prevent tangling, always detangle the extensions before washing and after drying. You can also use a detangling spray or leave-in conditioner to keep the hair smooth and easy to manage.

4. Styling

  • Heat Tools: If your Whisper Weft extensions are made from 100% human hair, you can safely use styling tools like curling irons, straighteners, or blow dryers. However, always apply a heat protectant spray to prevent heat damage.
  • Avoid Excessive Heat: While these extensions can withstand some heat, excessive use of hot tools can shorten their lifespan. Limit the use of heated styling tools and opt for air-dried, natural styles when possible.
  • Avoid Oil-Based Products: Refrain from using heavy oils or greasy products near the wefts, as this can make the hair heavy and greasy, and may cause slippage.

5. Protecting the Extensions While Sleeping

  • Braiding or Twisting: Before going to bed, loosely braid or twist your hair to prevent tangling. This keeps the Whisper Wefts from rubbing against your pillow and minimizes friction that could cause wear or tangling.
  • Silk or Satin Pillowcase: Consider sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction while you sleep. These materials help prevent frizz and tangling.

6. Maintaining the Wefts

  • Repositioning: Whisper Weft extensions require repositioning every 6–8 weeks(depending on your natural hair growth) to prevent tension on your natural hair. A professional stylist should move the wefts up for you.
  • Regular Salon Visits: Visit your stylist regularly to ensure the extensions are still securely attached and well-maintained.

7. Storing Your Whisper Wefts

  • Proper Storage: When not in use, store your Whisper Weft extensions in a silk or satin bag to keep them free from dust and tangling. Avoid storing them in a plastic bag, as this can cause static and frizz.
  • Avoid Over-Manipulating: When storing the extensions, don’t pull or tug at them. Simply place them in the bag and let them rest until you’re ready to use them again.

8. Additional Tips

  • Protect from Chlorine and Salt Water: If you plan to swim, make sure to either remove your extensions or wear a swimming cap to avoid chlorine and saltwater damage.
  • Avoid Sleeping with Wet Hair: Wet hair is more vulnerable to breakage and tangling. Always ensure your extensions are completely dry before going to bed.
  • Use Extension-Specific Products: Some brands offer extension-specific shampoos, conditioners, and serums designed to help extend the life of your hair extensions.

By following these steps, you can ensure your Whisper Weft extensions stay beautiful, comfortable, and long-lasting.
